It looked like an upset might be brewing at the onset of the game. But that thought was quickly erased as top-seeded Irvington defeated eighth-seeded Sayreville, 38-7, in the first round of the NJSIAA/Rothman Orthopaedics North Jersey, Section 1, Group 4 playoffs in Irvington. The Knights (8-2) next hosts fourth-seeded Northern Highlands on Nov. 4 at 7:00 p.m. Nasir Addison tied the game at 7-7 with a touchdown catch from CJ Pittman in the first quarter. Then, in the second, a rushing touchdown gave Irvington the lead, and then Kareem Corey caught a touchdown pass from Famah Toure to make it 19-7 at halftime.
